Applications to coach the MSLL post season All-Star and tournament teams are now being accepted. We will be appointing a head coach for the following teams:

  • Seniors All Stars
  • Juniors All Stars
  • Majors All Stars
  • 11s Tournament Team
  • 9/10 All Stars
  • 8/9s “All-Stars”
  • Super 8s (Rookie Senior)

Please refer to the Tournaments page on the MSLL website for more details about each of these teams.

To apply you must:

  • be an MSLL head coach or assistant coach who has attended at least 60% of regular season games in 2017
  • complete the MSLL post season coach application form: https://www.msll.ca/tournaments/post-season-coach-application/
  • submit your application by 5pm Sun May 21st 2017
  • be prepared to make the time/travel commitments as outlined below

Important Points to Consider

  • it’s critically important that you be familiar with tournament rules as they differ from regular season rules
  • the Seniors All Star head coach will enter the team in Provincials and must be available to take the team to Nationals/World Series if they advance
  • the Juniors All Star head coach will enter the team in Provincials and must be available to take the team to Nationals/World Series if they advance
  • the Majors All Star head coach will enter the team in Districts and must be available to take the team to Provincials/Nationals/World Series if they advance
  • the 11s tournament head coach can also set up exhibition games in addition to MSLL and Whalley tournaments
  • the 9/10s head coach will enter the team in Districts and must be available to take the team to Provincials if they qualify
  • the 8/9s “All Star” head coach will enter the team in the Lynn Valley Invitational tournament which is held on the July long weekend as well as any other tournaments they wish to enter
  • the Super 8s head coach will enter the team in the MSLL tournament that is held in late June as well as the Whiterock tournament in early July. Exhibition games are also very popular in this age division
  • all teams will be given the opportunity to enter other local tournaments

Selection Process

  • head coach for each post season team will be selected by Executive Committee vote
  • any Executive Committee members who are applying to coach a team, may not participate in the voting process for that team
  • the Executive Committee may solicit feedback from other coaches in your current division
  • the selected head coach will be responsible for choosing their own assistant coaches subject to Executive Committee approval
  • all players must earn their place on the team via tryout – players are not guaranteed placement on a team due to their parent coaching
