With the Spring season over halfway through – its time to think about plans for summer baseball. For the summer season we have All Stars teams that are selected via tryouts as well as summer ball teams for players of all skill levels. We are looking to expand our summer ball programs this year to provide more players the opportunity to play beyond the Spring season.
All Star Teams
Mount Seymour will have All Star teams for Super 8s, 8/9s, 9/10s, Majors, Juniors and Seniors. We have sent an email to coaches this week asking for applications to coach these teams. All Star coaches will be announced around the end of May and then tryouts will take place in June. Players selected to post season teams are required to make a full commitment to games, tournaments and practices.

MSLL Super 8s and 11s Tournaments
We are excited to announce that MSLL will be hosting two post season tournaments this year. The Super 8s “Candy Cup” will take place from June 23-25th and the 11s “Candy Cup” will run from June 22-25th, both tournaments will be held at Myrtle Park. The MSLL Super 8s and 11s teams will be participating in these tournaments and parents from these teams will be asked to cover volunteer requirements for the tournament including field prep, concession and scoring duties.

Little League Summer Ball
We are excited to announce that District 5 Little League organizations are working together to run a Little League Summer Ball program. This will be available for players in the 9 – 12 year old age divisions who are not necessarily playing All Stars but wish to keep playing baseball through the summer. The focus in Summer Ball will be on fun and player development. LL Summer Ball will run from July 1 to August 19th with most games being played at Viewlynn Park.
We are currently looking for coaches from MSLL who would like to help coach teams. Please contact president@msll.ca if you would like to volunteer as a coach.

Rookie Senior Summer Ball
MSLL is planning to offer our Rookie Senior Summer Ball program again this year. We introduced this program 4 years ago as way to give players the chance to continue playing baseball in the summer months and also help prepare them for the step up to AA and drafted teams. The program consists of one practice and one game each week. The teams for the game will be selected randomly each week by the coaches with the intentions of deliberately mixing up the kids so they play with new team-mates throughout the program. The rules for the game will be the same as in the regular season.
For the practices the coaches will work together under the guidance of our Coaching Director Steve to work on fundamentals and also introduce skills such as pitching and stealing ready for the AA division next season.
