8/9s Select All Stars
The 8/9s Select All Stars is not an official Little League All Star team. Instead this team is intended to provide competitive post season tournament experience for players baseball age 9 or 8. This teams competes in the Lynn Valley Canada Day invitational tournament which includes other District 5 teams as well as teams from other BC Little League districts. The team may also enter further tournaments during the summer.
Players on this team must be baseball age 9 or 8 and have played a minimum of Minors AA may also tryout for the 8/9s team. Players must have played a minimum of 60% of their MSLL team regular season/playoff games.
Head and assistant coaches are invited to apply for the 8/9s head coach or assistant coach position in mid May. Once applications are received the MSLL executive committee votes to appoint the head coach. The head coach is responsible for selecting the assistant coaches subject to executive committee approval.
Player tryouts are held in mid June. Players must attend tryouts to be considered for the team. The head coach will contact all players who attend the tryouts to inform them whether they were successful in making the team.
The child of a head or assistant coach is not guaranteed placement on the team.
Post Season Fee
Players who are selected for the team are required to pay a $80 post season fee to participate (please contact the MSLL executive committee in case of hardship).
This fee covers the additional costs associated with the post season such as: uniforms, belts, t-shirts, socks, pins, tournament entry fees, umpire fees, baseballs and equipment.
There is no cost to attend team tryouts.

The 8/9s All Stars team does not guarantee equal playing time to all players. The playing rules will be as specified by the individual tournament rules, but typically some players will play more than others. Post season teams are intended to be a competitive experience, and coaches may use their players in order to provide the best chance to win.
Line up decisions are fully at the discretion of the team head coach. All parents must sign the post season protocol and are expected to be supportive of the coaches.
In addition to the Lynn Valley tournament, the 9s All Stars team may participate in further tournaments:
Abercromby Cup Burnaby – mid July
Whistler Sea to Sky Invitational – Early August (exact dates TBD) – Spruce Grove Park, Whistler
