MSLL Coaching Director Steve Armistead is driving an initiative to standardize coaching methods across all teams in MSLL. For the 2016 season he has produced Coaches Manuals for all teams in the Rookie Junior and Rookie Senior divisions. These manuals cover the goals and expectations for each division, as well as detailed instructions on teaching skills and drills that can be used during practices. Moving forward Steve will be looking to expand these Coaching Manuals to other MSLL divisions.
On Friday 22nd April Steve ran an information session for all Rookie Junior and Senior coaches. Two hard-copy binders per team were handed out during this session. For those who were not able to attend the information session, please pick up your binders from the Myrtle Park Clubhouse asap. Despite the light rain, Steve and the coaches spent a very productive couple of hours at the field reviewing the material in the binders and Steve demonstrated the key skills he wants coaches to teach our players. During this session we took many video clips, and these are now available to view on our website.
